Research on reduction of magnesium

Magnesium can be thermally reduced at 1200°C. This temperature is below the reduction temperature of iron, and can be easily obtained by solar heat or biomass combustion. A huge desert area exists on the surface of the earth. This solar energy is the largest primary energy for human beings living in the coming era, and we must build and use international cooperation.
[Thermal reduction method] So far, we have developed a concave mirror method and conducted basic experiments to establish the technology for producing magnesium by solasr heat. Currently, we are using a plastic Fresnel lens for reduction. By using a Fresnel lens, it has become possible to reduce the cost by far.

マグネシウムの還元についての研究

これまで凹面鏡方式を開発し基礎実験を行い、太陽熱によるマグネシウム生成技術を確立しました。現在は、プラスチック製のフレネルレンズを用いてリダクションを行っています。フレネルレンズにすることで圧倒的にコストを下げることが可能となりました。


Research on Power generation by magnesium

Currently existing magnesium fuel cells are only for emergency and small appliances such as smartphones. In order to play a part of the energy society, a continuous magnesium fuel cell for a power plant is indispensable, the intellectual property has already been acquired, and a prototype is currently being developed.

なぜマグネシウムなのか?

現在存在するマグネシウム燃料電池は、非常用や携帯電話等の小型電化製品用である。エネルギー社会の一角を担うには、連続式のマグネシウム燃料電池が必要で、現在発電所用のマグネシウム燃料電池の研究を行っております。
